AGELE Conference Funding Sources

An online survey was distributed to those who attended the 2007 AGELE Conference in San Diego, CA. The information below, regarding the funding sources they used to attend, is based on the survey responses received (please note that respondents may have used more than one source, so the percentage adds up to more than 100). We encourage all prospective Conference attendees to explore potential funding sources, such as the ones below, to enable you to join us at the next conference!

28% of respondents used Federal Equity Assistance Center (EAC) Funds
22% of respondents used Personal Funds *
19% of respondents used Professional/Staff Development Funds
19% of respondents used State Department of Education Funds
16% of respondents used State Perkins Funds
9% of respondents used Nonprofit Advocacy or Education Organization Funds
3% of respondents used School Improvement Funds
3% of respondents used Safe & Drug Free School Funds
3% of respondents used NCLB/ESEA Funds
3% of respondents used Union Civil or Human Rights Project Funds

* many of these respondents used personal funds in combination with other funds

Other Suggestions for Potential Funding Sources:
    Policy Development Funds
Title II-A (Teacher and Principal Quality) from the No Child Left Behind Act.
Title V-A funds (Innovative programs) could also be used if the school district identifies activities around equity issues as part of their application

Making Your Case for Attending the AGELE Conference

Use the list of concurrent sessions provided on the conference website to select sessions that would meet objectives identified for the funds you wish to leverage. Provide that list to the person making the funding decision.

If you are a Title IX Coordinator, or are new to gender equity work, don't forget to include the Welcome to AGELE: Introduction to Gender Equity and the History of AGELE in your rationale for why you should attend the conference. Descriptions of this session can be found in the Registration Packet. The Welcome to AGELE session is included in the conference registration fee. We also offer pre conference training workshops for an additional fee that may also assist in making your case that the AGELE conference is an excellent opportunity for professional development. Consult the conference registration packet for details on these workshops.

Please feel free to contact any member of the Steering Committee if you need any other assistance in making your case for why you need to be at this conference.
